•Account data: Email, username, and password (password is hashed and never stored in plain text)
•Profile pictures: Avatar images you upload (stored on our servers)
•Content you create: Stories, continuations, votes, chat messages, private messages, and images shared in chats
•Usage data: Basic server logs (IP addresses, timestamps) for security and debugging

•To provide and operate the Storycom platform
•To display your stories, submissions, and votes to other users
•To deliver private messages and notifications
•To send account-related emails (confirmation, password reset)
🛡️ Data storage and security
•All data is transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted in transit)
•Passwords are hashed using bcrypt
•Data is stored on servers in Germany (Hetzner Cloud)
•Uploaded images (avatars, chat images) are stored on our servers with no size limit beyond 5MB per file
•Private messages are stored on the server and are not end-to-end encrypted. They may be accessed for moderation or abuse prevention
•Database and uploaded files are backed up daily and retained for 14 days
🚫 What we don't do
•We don't sell your data to third parties
•We don't use tracking cookies or analytics
•We don't show advertisements
•We don't share your data with anyone unless required by law
✅ Your rights
•You can change your password at any time from your profile
•You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us
•Under GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data
🌍 Public content
Stories, continuations, votes, story chat messages, and profile pictures are public by design. Other users can see this content. Your username and avatar are displayed alongside your contributions.
